We went to Ella and Evan's 1 year check up the day after their birthday, but forgot to get a print out of all the measurement stats. Unfortunately, we had to go to the doctor's again this week because Bean and Buddy came down with sinus infections. They've been pretty miserable, but seem to be doing better... hopefully by Christmas day! I think the antibiotics are kicking in now!
The doctor thought they looked great. He asked me if they ate lots of vegetables. I nervously said that they did and he told me he was able to tell by the color of their skin (yellowish, I guess?). He reassured me that it was a good and healthy thing. And then asked me how much juice I gave them. I was so scared to answer because they haven't ever had juice! Surprisingly, he quickly complimented me and said that it was a good thing-- phew! I'm kind of a sugar nazi. And they're still not allowed to eat regular Cheerios (as opposed to Puffs) because he said they are the number one emergency room choking hazard for children).
At this point, the babies are pretty much eating whatever we're eating (tonight included pasta and polish sausage-- haha!). We've transitioned to regular milk (2% because they're not underweight), but they haven't been drinking much lately. I'm not sure if it's that they don't like it much, if it's been because they're sick, or a little of both!? Ugh. So I'm back to adding fluids to cereal, etc. to get it down them. There's always something.
The babies are beginning to understand a lot. They're (especially Evan) really great at pointing to things you ask them to find. Today Evan pointed to his belly (patting it) and his nose. We've started to watch Baby Signing Time DVDs that our good friends, Paige and Levi got us for our birthday. Greg and I had a date night last night and I was singing the "diaper dance" song over dinner. Nice.
Before I ramble too much, here are their stats:
Ella Marie
weight: 23 lbs. 5 oz. (83rd percentile)
height: 2'7" (96th percentile) The dr. even commented when he saw her that she was tall.
head circumference: 17.24" (16th percentile)-- poor Bean's tiny head-- no wonder people always think Buddy is so much bigger.
tooth count: 5
Evan Jacob
weight: 25lbs. 5 oz. (83rd percentile)
height: 2'6.25" (66th percentile)-- Bean is taller!
head circumference: 18.27" (51 percentile)
tooth count: 6
Looks like they're doing just fine! =)

Kari Marie, you are the best mom with those "bundles of joy", you are so very patient, always ready to hold and hug (when that fleeting moment comes by) you teach them while you play and they know they are so very loved by their mommy! Can't get better than that.
Sounds like they are doing great! Good to know about the cheerios- I've been giving them to the babies- YIKES!
