Ella and Evan are 10 months old today-- only 2 months away from the BIG 1. Sigh. I seriously can't figure out where the time has gone! A year seems so long, but apparently it equates to a much shorter time in parenthood. I look at my babies and realize how big they are getting and it makes me think back to when they were so little. I sometimes get scared that I'm already forgetting things, but am so happy that I've documented so much on this blog so I can go back and reminisce. Though time is flying by I love the stage that the babies are in. They are so much fun and do the funniest things. I love that they understand many things that I say and it amazes me to watch them sit and figure things out on their own. It warms my heart when I see them playing together and literally see how much they love each other. It wipes all the hard times of being a full-time mommy away. I am so unbelievably blessed.
Ella~
- pulls up on most things now (she sure took her time and wanted us to it for her in Princess fashion!)
- loves to laugh- big belly laughs!
- will move her hand/wrist when she talks at times (looks very "valley girl-ish")
- dances to any kind of music/beats with huge smiles
- LOVES being chased! In fact, will laugh hard when she "thinks" Evan is chasing her. Usually isn't the case.
- finds it necessary to have an object in each hand. It really doesn't matter what the object is, it just needs to occupy the space. She even crawls holding on to the toys. You can hear her coming down the tile clanking away... she's seriously a piece of work.
- likes to watch me bake and cook. Thinks it's funny when I stir things up.
- likes to pull off her socks and "eat" them. They're usually soaked and I have to find new ones to put on after her nap.
- enjoys throwing her pacifiers overboard in her crib. I found a whole stash of them between her crib and the wall.
- scrunches up her nose and smiles the most genuine of smiles
- has chubby little legs and cheeks
- continues to love snuggling and holding her bankie
- has been known to say "mmmm" after bites of food
- "talks" constantly, with a lot of drama and inflection in her voice
- can still play well on her own, but loves to follow her brother or mommy into the kitchen
As you can see Ella was not very cooperative with looking at the camera!
Hmph.
Evan~
- LOVES being outside! He'll actually cry when you walk him over to the sliding door in the kitchen nook because he wants to go out.
- thinks that saying "no" is a fun, fun game
- is very good at imitating things that you do. He's also great at coming up with things on his own, such as "The Ratchet"
- LOVES Bear and will look for him and get him when you tell him to
- really likes animals. He's liked them and has been squealing at them for a long time. I first noticed it when he was only a few months old when he saw a turkey on the outdoor channel. He went absolutely crazy when he saw it and does the same thing when he sees dogs, cats, and horses (was just introduced to them last weekend at the pumpkin patch).
- seems really close to walking, being very comfortable barely holding on for support
- continually wants love from mommy and has seemed to really grown close to Daddy recently too!
- has short legs, squishy cheeks, and thick feet
- is extremely ticklish, especially on his back and belly
- likes being chased, but comes right at you (making the chasing VERY easy!)
- likes to day dream and stares out at the window
They both love to eat table food (or "human food", according to my niece,
Kayli) now and will munch away on my lunch just after eating their own meal. Their favorites include: chicken rice-a-
roni,
broccoli-cheese potatoes, and spaghetti, beef
stroganoff, and bread. When I tell them (and sign) "all done", they usually cry! :(
They think that brushing their teeth is a fun treat and often want me to do a second run through. I'm sure they'd love for me to do it after each meal, but for now they get them brushed in the morning and right before bed.
I think their milk intake is just something that won't really go back up (unless whole milk is a huge hit at a year old?). They usually drink 7-8 oz. in the
morning, 5-6 oz. for the next two feedings, and 6-7 oz. at the last feeding. I tend to put it in their solids with some type of cereal to thicken it up. They enjoy most foods eating at least 1-2 servings of grain/cereal day, a vegetable and fruit at each feeding, and at least one protein a day.
Evan enjoys finger foods and Ella does too, but does not like giving up the food in her hands to eat. What is with this girl? She will often times hold on to the food in her hands and pick up another piece with her thumb and pointer finger to put in her mouth. Silly girl. I would love it if the babies would hold their own bottles, but they don't seem the slightest bit interested. Figures.
It seems as though they're really beginning to understand words/phrases that we say to them lately. When we're getting ready to eat I'll tell them to take out their pacifiers and they either pull them out or Evan will spit it out. It's so funny to have them understand what you're saying. If I tell them to go find Daddy, they'll spin around and go climb up to the couch to where Greg is. And, of course, they know who Bear is and love to go look for him. It's great watching them make those connections-- they crack us up!
It's been a great 10 months, Ella and Evan! We love you two to the moon and back!
