One Month Old

Wow! I can't believe Ella & Evan are already a month old! It seems like it's going by so fast, but also as if we've had them forever. They're changing so much already. For one, they're getting chubbier. I'm expecting that they're pushing 9 lbs now! They both have very different personalities. Evan is such a cuddle bug and loves to snuggle. He loves for you place your hand on his head or chest and just leave it there for comfort. He'll grab on to your hands and hold them tightly and if you go to pull away, he pulls them in tight. He smiles constantly and makes the most adorable sounds. We call him our little Chunk-a-monk because as soon as he gets up he's ready to eat with his mouth open wide. And he means serious business too. He whimpers until you feed him- very pathetic! =)

Miss Ella-bean is hilarious. She has a permanent frown on her face and makes the funniest grunt sounds when she moves about and eats. It takes her a while to warm up after she wakes up from her naps, stretching and grunting. She's very much like her mother. Her cheeks are getting bigger and just hang from her face... they are so adorable. She's very strong and holds her head up all the time when you hold her up on your chest (a champ at tummy time!). She loves to cuddle up under your neck and sleep on your shoulder. And she is definitely a Daddy's girl already; She has captured Greg's heart for sure.
Greg and I are starting to adjust to our new family of four title. It's a lot of work, but they are so worth it! It seems like everyday we love them more. I love holding them and feeding them while they stare at you... there's definitely a connection that you make with your babies this way!

One GREAT accomplishment is that we've been able to stretch out the feedings from 2 (1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.) to just 1 at 3:30 a.m. and then the 7:30 a.m. one the past two nights. Woo-hoo! I'm really hoping that they will continue with this progress and we are successful at getting more sleep at night. We've had lots of help trying to get Greg and I rested up... we don't know what we'd do without the help!

I leave you with a picture of the babies on their one month birthday!

Note the pink and purple bib on EVAN!

Tummy Time

We try to do tummy time each day. The babies really don't seem to mind it although after a while they tend to get frustrated. This morning the babies got a little too comfortable and thought that it was a good time to take a snooze. They started out being a little away from each other, but then Evan scooted his way over to his sister... so sweet!

Our First Walk!

The weather was beautiful today so we decided that we should get out and enjoy the fresh air. The babies seemed to enjoy it, but decided that sleeping in the sunshine was better than soaking in the sights. =)

Happy Due Date!

I realize it's been SO long since I've updated everyone on we're all doing.... it's been a very busy time. Thankfully, Greg and I are still alive (well, at least most days). It's been a lot of work, but we love our sweet little babies so much. They're a little over two weeks old now, but it feels like we've had them forever. This doesn't mean that we have any idea what we're doing, but we hear that things get better. With that said, I can't believe that today is the actual due date for the babies. It's funny to think that they were technically supposed to be born in 2009, but came in 2008. I guess we get two tax deductions this year! haha =)

I've been really worn down lately. I went into motherhood being totally exhausted and sleep deprived so managing two babies around the clock has not cured that department. I've been battling the baby blues, but hoping that I'll be able to shake it soon. I know that the yucky weather and little sleep that we get doesn't help. We're so lucky to have a lot of family support to come help out during the day though.

I'll have to share the whole birth story sometime soon, but thought I'd just briefly update everyone for now. Ella and Evan are doing well. The appear to be gaining weight just by looking at them, but also by the scale that we have at home. We go to the doctor's tomorrow so we'll be able to get a better picture on how they're doing. Ella had a hard time with her feedings at first because she had jaundice (supposedly it makes them very sleepy and lethargic). We had to take her back for a third testing shortly after we came home with them because her levels had gone up. Thankfully, her numbers went down and she's now able to eat better. As tiny as she looks, she can sure pack the food away. We call her Princess Teenie-Tiny because she looks so small. She makes a million little grunts and noises when she eats and when she wakes up. It's so cute. Evan is a cutie with his chubby cheeks. He cracks me up because he always looks so skeptical of everyone. He decides he isn't going to move his head and looks around with just his eyes. When it comes time to eat and/or change his diaper he becomes VERY impatient. He gets so mad and acts as if we're torturing him. I'm sure I'll be embarrassed out of my mind when the time comes to change or feed him in public. Silly boy.

Here are some pictures of the little ones. We have more pictures on our other camera, but I need to get Greg to help me transfer them to my computer. Hopefully these will do for now... =)

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year! Many blessings for 2009!
Here's a picture of Ella and Evan all snuggly in the hospital... so sweet!
