Ella + Evan = Up to NO Good!

We've found Bean like this a few times, but weren't fast enough to snap pictures. Greg watched the babies for a bit so that my sister and I could get a pedicure. During that time he was able to catch Miss Ella in action (with her accomplice)!

This one is my favorite-- she's really reachin' in there for her pacifier! =)
Look at those super cute little thighs!
Evan Jacob sitting so innocently...
... but not for long.
The Duo

Greg finally had to get her out because she tries to sit up underneath the table and bonks her head! Crazy girl. They definitely keep us busy and laughing! =)

BIG Bath!

Ella and Evan have graduated to the BIG bathtub! The change has probably been overdue for some time now, but they fit in the other tub just fine. It was so much easier the other way too, with the spray nozzle connected to the laundry room sink for rinsing off. I do like that the babies are now able to wash up together and I can just let them sit and play for a while without having to rush to bathe the next little one (it kills half an hour for sure!). They certainly like their new bath and toys though!

And a short video of them playin' in the tub!

Lemons

Ella has a thing for lemons. It just started today, but she has become quite attached to them. I have no idea why, and I keep questioning my parenting abilities thinking that I am the root of the lemon attachment. Perhaps I'm not holding her enough or giving her enough attention? I'm kidding here, but still, why lemons???

My mom gave Ella and Evan some of the lemons that were on the counter and Ella decided that she would play with them ALL day. She kept them very close by with one tucked under her arm at all times (Greg was happy that she was holding it much like one would a football). At one point she dropped one and it rolled past the gate, out of her reach, and she started to cry. She held on to them during dinner time and snuggle time before bed. She was so content with them in her arms, I decided to let her take them up to bed with her. Still not sure if that was a good idea or not. I went up a bit later and took them out of the crib. You have to check out the pictures below! Seriously, SO funny!

Just one here...
Thought this was the funniest picture-- EVER!
Happy as can be at dinner...
Snuggling with her bankie...
Buddy was wanting a shot too...
And a shot of us as we walked up to bed...

Guess Where I Found Ella?

... in the laundry basket, of course! I was emptying the dishwasher when I heard her start to whine a little. I walked over to find her lying down lengthwise in the laundry basket! This is a "reenactment" picture because I didn't want her getting freaked out staying in there while I took the picture. I seriously don't know how she got in there... she hardly ever pulls herself up on things and stays on her knees cautiously. Crazy girl! I thought it was pretty funny though-- you never know what these kids are going to do! =)

9 Months In, 9 Months Out

Before you were conceived, I wanted you
Before you were born, I loved you
Before you were here an hour, I would have died for you
This is the miracle of love.

~Maureen Hawkins

My sweet little monkeys are 9 months old today-- 9 months! It's so hard for me to fathom that 9 months is how long I carried them and they've now been out that long. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to carry them that far, but with God's help, I did. I've known my babies for a year and a half now. I have that special bond that no one else shares with them. I love being their mommy and I'm pretty sure they love having me as their mommy too. I'm so lucky to be able to stay home with them and see all that they do and discover each day.

Lately, it seems as if they're learning something new every day! They're so much fun and they definitely keep me busy! =) Here are a few new things...

Evan Jacob~

  • still has just the 3 teeth, but his top one hasn't really come out all the way
  • weighs 22 lb. 2 oz., and is 29.75 in. long. I didn't receive a print-out of their %s, but the doctor said this is above average on the boys growth chart.
  • is an excellent crawler, and can really pick up the speed!
  • has been pulling up on things and standing for some time now, but has recently decided to walk along the perimeter of whatever he's holding on to (we all know what comes after this step--yikes!)
  • as fearless as I say he is, Evan is actually pretty cautious... he balances well and attempts to figure out which method would be the safest... still has lots of bumps and bruises though
  • has let go of the coffee table and reached for me, taking one small step
  • bends over from a standing position and picks toys up
  • is suffering from EXTREME separation anxiety!!! He'll cry at first when strangers talk to him, but will usually return to his same charming behavior.
  • continues to have the biggest smiles and "squinty" eyes just like his daddy
  • laughs almost the whole time he's crawling or climbing up on something (sounds like, "he, he")
  • loves to stand up in his bed and laugh at his sister in the neighboring crib
  • is getting a bunch of new hair that gets all sweaty as he runs around everywhere
  • is slowly reaching the max in his 6-12 month clothes- oh, no!
  • has VERY thick feet
  • loves to talk, or shall I say "yell"? He is definitely a boy and "talks" in a VERY loud way. And his newest noise is "hissing"... yes, like a snake. Hmmm.

Look at that face-- looks kind of naughty to me =)

Ella Marie~

  • has her 2 bottom teeth that are starting to show up quite well
  • weighs 20 lbs. 2 oz. and is 29.50 in. long. Again, he said that Ella's stats are above average as well.
  • is crawling really well, but likes to throw a few yoga moves in there along the way
  • LOVES standing, but hasn't quite figured out how to pull herself up all the way. Her technique is to pull up with her arms instead of pushing up with her legs. Poor Bean, I think she inherited her mother's thinking/reasoning! I helped her this morning by putting her leg up from sitting on her knees and she pushed up, so hopefully she'll learn soon enough. She likes to stand up against things though, next to her brother and will stay there for a long time usually whining to get back up if you put her down.
  • I had always considered her to be very cautious as she'll usually stay where I am on the floor, but watching her stand has changed my mind. She likes to grab a toy with both hands, not realizing that she can't stand without holding on to something stable. She goes down with a boom quite quickly!
  • usually stays with me on the floor, but likes to take off if Evan follows me in to the kitchen. It is then that we have our "baby parade"... Mommy, Evan, then Ella! We walk all around the kitchen! =)
  • loves, loves, loves her blankie ("bankie")! It's the first thing she grabs for while picking her up to go up to bed or from coming down from bed. She grabs it and gets the biggest smile as she buries her face into it!
  • is such a snuggle girl. Neither Greg or I would have thought she's turn out this way based on how she was as a newborn. She couldn't ever get comfortable and would "peck" at your shoulders to find a comfortable spot. She had a permanent frown on her face and would make the most frustrated/angry sounds. She has changed so much! She could sit on your lap forever just snuggling away with you and her blankie. She likes to put her face right up to yours, smile, and then give kisses... don't think there's ever been a sweeter little girl than her!
  • has a mohawk that keeps getting taller and thicker. This is contrary to my first beliefs of it laying flat once the hair grew out more. My sister and I were at Baby Gap when I came across a onesie that said "Good Hair Day"... I asked my sister if Ella would ever be able to wear that -- haha!
  • seems to be pretty tiny everywhere except for those chunk-chunk thighs... that must be where she's storing it all! =)
  • chatters quite a bit, many times under her breath as if talking to herself-- SO cute! And she loves to say "da da", of course.

Ella and Evan love dancing and eating their solids. They're doing better about drinking their milk, but still have their days where I'm lucky to get 4 oz. down them at a feeding! The doctor said that they should only need 16-24 oz. a day now. And their favorite toys include: water bottles, old-outdated phones, and remotes (you know, the expensive toys from the finest of stores).

They continue to amaze us with all that they learn to do and where they started. We are so blessed to have them and remind us everyday of God's love! Happy 9 month birthday, Ella and Evan! We love you!

Now that we're mobile...

...this is what mommy always finds at her feet! They're cute little ankle-biters! =)

Nakey by the Window (but with a diaper!)

My silly babies love to move around in their diapers (but I always say they're "nakey"). And their new favorite place to hang out is by the glass sliding door in the kitchen nook area. They drag some of their toys there, climb on the chairs and door, watch the wind chime move about, and crawl around the table-- doesn't get any better than that. PLUS being all NAKEY! =o) Trying to grab a little piece of carpet that they brought over!

LOVE those chubby little limbs! =)

Fun Times!

Ella and Evan's good friends, Paige and Levi, came over for a visit Saturday morning. Ella and Evan just love the BIG kids and I kind of think that Paige and Levi like the little ones too! =) Ella showing them her book collection...

Girlie-girls hangin' out!
And Buddy showing off his awesome standing up skills!
Thanks for visiting Amanda, Paige, and Levi-- see you this weekend for the big birthday bash!

3 Little Monkeys

We had some friends over Friday night for dinner and playtime for the babies. We met Greg and Trisha in our child birth class and they had their little Gwyn the day before Ella and Evan were born. We were all in the hospital (a couple rooms apart, I believe) at the same time. Here are the little munchkins in their pjs before going down for the night and giving us mommies and daddies some free time to visit! =) Gwyn, Evan, and Ella
Every time I see them together, I always think that Gwyn and Evan look more like twins than Evan and Ella! haha =)
Little Bean was so funny when we were taking the pictures. I don't know if she was tired or what, but she kept staring at Greg (Gwyn's daddy) and giving him this goofy smile. We were all cracking up because she sat there for the longest time doing it-- silly girl! =)
You can see her in the background still staring at Greg while Gwyn and Evan go off looking for treasures on the coffee table!
And here are a couple of up close shots!
Too funny!

My Sweet Girl

She LOVES bottles and wet rags!

BIG, BIG Boy!

My little man is (almost) fearless! He likes to stand, climb, roll over anything these days! He's a very busy boy that can't be stopped... AND he has the bumps and bruises to prove it! Here he is climbing/shaking the storage drawers...holding on to the chair...
and the coffee table... This is his excited face showing how much fun it is to explore!
