We're 7 Months Old!

Today Ella and Evan turned 7 months old! Time has been flying by so fast that I had decided I would start planning their 1st birthday party (for those that know me should not be surprised). We had a fun time playing and went shopping for some toys for our "birthday". Actually, they were toys that I've been wanting to get for them, but figured today was a good day to do it!

Our little monkeys aren't staying so little anymore. It's borderline ridiculous how heavy they are in their car seats! I have the hardest time trying to lug one in each hand going out to the car (when Greg isn't around, of course!).

A lot has changed over the past month. First off, Evan has a tooth! AND number 2 is working it's way in too! My mom called it a 2 for 1 deal! I've decided that the 2 for 1 deal must run in our family. =) Ella doesn't have any in yet, but she sure seems like she's working on it -- poor thing! Playing on their tummies is a thing of the past too! It's all about sitting these days, and that's what they want to do while playing. They'll do a bunch of squawking until you put them up. I like them sitting up, but I still pillows behind them, fearing they'll fall back and hit the backs of their heads pretty hard. It's rare for that to happen, but occasionally they do tumble over. When they are on their tummies though, they are ALL OVER the place! They can seriously cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. And again, we are not completely baby-proofed. It's cute to have them spin around and try and follow me while scooting along. Ella primarily scoots backwards, but somehow Evan manages to go all directions. It's pretty funny! =)

They both get up in the crawling position (a lot in their cribs!?) and rock back and forth. It's so funny to watch and boggles my mind how every baby goes through this stage with no one showing them what to do! Crazy.

The babies love to eat solids (and Ella is back on board with drinking her whole bottle-- strange little girl!). As soon as they see the bowl they start rockin' in their seats all excited to start. So cute! Their favorites include: bananas, peas, sweet potatoes, blueberries, and oatmeal with bananas. There's a few things that I haven't introduced to them, such as corn, butternut squash and re-introducing green beans. My plan is to do that soon. My mom bought a big yam and butternut squash from farmer's market for me today, so we'll have some new, tasty food soon!

We don't go to the doctor for a while, but I weighed the babies from our home baby scale seeing how the numbers were extremely close at their 6 month check-up. Ella only appeared to gain around a pound, which makes sense seeing how we couldn't get a lot of milk down her... thank goodness we're back on track! She weighed 18 1/2 pounds. Evan seemed to gain a little more than that this past month (of course!)... he weighs almost 20 1/2 pounds, gaining close to 2 pounds the past month. I think they're doing okay. They're also getting a lot of hair coming in. Ella's is pretty obvious being dark, but Evan's is so white that it's hard to tell, but up close you can see how long it's getting. It's even starting to go over the tops of their ears!

They have a couple of new favorite things to do. Ella's most recent is the "sniffing" thing. We thought it was just a little "thing", but it has stuck for a while now and she does it all day everyday, usually when she's excited and happy. Evan has decided that he likes to scream/yell when he's frustrated about something. NOT A FAN. I try not to respond to it, but realize he's just trying to express himself in the only way that he knows. Many times he'll smile and laugh when you turn and look at him after a little yell... obviously, he's realized it's an attention-getter! Oh, my children! =)

We're still on the same feeding/napping schedule, but have decided and stuck to feeding them at 6:30 p.m. and being in bed at about 7 p.m. This has been working pretty well for us.

I'm hoping to take the babies in for some pictures this coming week, so hopefully we'll have some cute ones to share! Here's a few shots from today on their 7 month birthday! =)

Evan was VERY interested in Ella's bow today... hmmm... let's hope he doesn't go there!

And still wants whatever toy the other one has!

A tiny smile. You can see on the sides of his head the blonde hair coming in!
They decided that they weren't going to smile for the camera today! :(

Playing with their new toys. We got them the Crawl-Along Drum Roll, Classical Stacker, and Grandma Kim got them the Stack & Roll Cups-- they were an instant hit!

Buddy was even able to put his hands around the ball and pick it up!
We also decided to try out Puffs... I was a little worried because they're pretty hard and DO NOT melt in your mouth as fast as I thought they would! They appeared to be disgusted by it at first, but I think it was because it was a new texture in their mouth. They both decided they wanted more pretty quick though! =)

Wow, they really have turned the corner - new big kid toys and Puffs! Exciting, but kinda sad... The Puffs are fun, though. Just wait until they start trying to get them in their own mouths; it's hilarious. :)
