WAY Overdue!

I can't believe it's been so long since I last updated everyone... things are always busy around here and oddly enough I don't always find the time to eat, drink, use the restroom, etc., let alone blog. Everyone is doing great though. The babies are now 7 weeks old and thriving! They are getting so big and changing so much. I put them on the baby scale before their bath and it looks as if they're pushing 11 lbs. now- yikes!

We have definitely settled into a routine (which they adapted to pretty quickly). We're feeding every 3 hours during the day and were down to one feeding in the night. Just last night the babies skipped their nighttime feeding and went from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.- WOW! I was so excited, but exhausted. I played pacifier patrol on and off for a couple of hours and I was stressing out about when and if they'd wake up and what that would do to our schedule. I'm really hoping that we can keep this up and the babies will now hone their sleeping skills during the night! Yay, babies!

Evan is our little chunky-monkey. He looks huge now! He's eating 4-5 oz. at each feeding time. I swear he has a built in alarm clock, too! Anywhere from 15-20 minutes before feeding time he likes to wake up and "remind" us that feeding time is almost there and to get ready. He has the most pathetic cry and makes you want to cry along with him. He really knows how to melt mommy's heart. Part of his morning routine is to swing in his swing and talk to his toys. He becomes VERY animated. His smiles are bigger and cuter each day! Tummy time still isn't what it should be as he just lays there and occasionally falls asleep. He was pushing himself to his side over the weekend during tummy time and almost rolled over. And then today during some practice he actually did it! Evan pushed himself over for the first time! I couldn't believe it!

Ella is a little more reserved, although she is our noisy one. Her cry is a bit more intense and angry sounding. And there's no volume control on her either. We say that she's tiny, but mighty! =) She's much more quiet in all other ways though. Her cooing is much quieter and she smiles way less in comparison to Evan. I've had several smiles from her recently though. She's so beautiful! Tummy time is definitely her thing. She can hold herself up so well. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle with Daddy underneath his neck. She can fall asleep in an instant in Daddy's arms. Ella doesn't eat as much as Evan, but she can still get down anywhere from 3-5 oz. in a feeding. I continue to pump breastmilk for them and supplement with formula (wish my body could keep up with 2 growing babies!), but nurse them each atleast once a day. They latch on just fine. I hate that people put so much pressure on you and say that babies get "nipple confusion". It's just one more way to stress new moms out! :P It's going well though. =)

They both do fine during diaper changes and bath time now. However, Ella still throws a fit when you put her arms in or take them out of a onesie or outfit. She's so stubborn and pushes in the opposite direction when you're trying to get her dressed. Evan likes to pee-pee all over his clothes and bath. We even have a rag that we put over him during diaper changes, but he manages to find the only opening. He just lays there and stares at you intently and then smiles a big smile. Little stinker.

Greg went back to work last week so I've been on my own. It's tough at times, but I'm managing. It feels weird to be taking care of the babies without him here since he had the first six weeks off with them. He misses them very much when he's gone though. He has a little book of pictures that he can look at while at work.

I'm hoping that I can be a bit more successful with my updates in the future. Here are some pictures of the little ones! =)
